CSM OPENS NEW MERCER COUNTY OFFICE
 It is with honor we announce that the Council of the Southern Mountains continues making opportunities available for those we serve. Located at 512 Commerce Street in Bluefield, WV CSM now has office space to fulfill our mission of helping people.
The office space now being utilized is located in the old West Virginia Hotel now named the West Virginia Manor. The high rise facility is primarily for housing seniors and people with disabilities.
 The Office Director is newly hired Carol Rudisill, B.S.N., of Princeton, WV who will be working with our Title XIX and Aged and Disabled Waiver consumers. We welcome Ms. Rudisill and Office Assistant Henrietta Craighead, a Title V employee, to our CSM family. 
 The office telephone number is 327-5305 and the hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p. m . Monday through Friday. 
 The agency is initially accepting referrals for this office from the counties of: Mercer, Summers and Monroe, McDowell and Wyoming. Several more counties are eligible for CSM to also serve. Please stop by and visit the office and sample CSM hospitality and inclusion! An Open House is being planned. You are invited!

GOVERNOR’S AWARDS CEREMONY FOR CSM GRANT
ABOVE-The Governor held an Announcement Ceremony in the Governor’s Reception Hall at the State Capitol on October 29, 2007. The CSM group is, from left to right: Latonia Foster, James Eubanks, Tom Nuckols, Aaron Smedley, Arley Johnson, Miranda Adams, Margaret Donithan, Barbara Caceres, Augustine Lewis, Marcia Charney-Mullins, Claudia Via, Sue Johnson, Governor Manchin, L.H. Johnson, Randal Johnson, Sharon Laxton, Patricia Green, Frieda Atwell, Carol Rudisill, Jeanna Cook, Debbie Powell, Heather Eldridge and Arnold Johnson.
 
 The West Virginia Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity Director, Edwin Harper, when informed that CSM had won the Mentoring Children of Prisoners grant, was so impressed that he arranged for the Governor to recognize the agency. Mr. Harper related to the Executive Director that he wanted our agency recognized for working so hard to meet the needs of those we serve.
 As a result, on October 29, 2007 Governor Joe Manchin presented Certificates of Appreciation to the Council and Executive Director Randal Johnson. The Governor was very gracious to the staff and congratulated everyone for such an accomplishment. The grant was awarded after a national competition and CSM is the only recipient in West Virginia.
 An awards celebration was held by the CSM contingency later at Olive Garden in Charleston!
