Title XIX Waiver Program
The Medicaid Title XIX I/DD Waiver Program is a federal program designed to deliver services to individuals in their homes and community as an alternative to receiving services in an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Mental Retardation and related conditions (ICF/MR).
How the Title XIX Waiver Program Can Assist
This program is a health care coverage program that reimburses for services to instruct/train and support/assist individuals who have mental retardation and/or related conditions.
This program also aims to achieve the highest level of independence and self-sufficiency possible for the lives of these individuals.

Program Eligibility
Financial Eligibility
To be financial eligible, the individual must have:

A monthly income of less than three times the current maximum amount of Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Must have less than $2,000 in assets
-
The costs of I/DD Waiver services to participants on average cannot be more expensive than the average cost of support in the ICF/MR facility
Medical Eligibility
To be medically eligible, an indivudal must have:

Primary diagnosis of mental retardation
-
And/or a related condition with substantial deficits in major life areas that require the same level of intensive instruction and services that are provided in an ICF/MR facility
